If you’ve moved to any town in Camp de Túria, the first thing to do is register on the padrón municipal (town census), known as empadronamiento. It’s compulsory for anyone who usually lives in a municipality and it unlocks many services.
Why it matters
- Being assigned a health centre and family doctor.
- Access to school places based on proximity.
- Applying for local grants and services.
- Being included in the town’s electoral roll. Voting rights also depend on nationality and other conditions — see the INE (Spanish statistics office).
Usual documents
- DNI, NIE or passport for everyone registering.
- Proof of address: title deed, rental contract or the owner’s authorisation.
- For children: family book or birth certificate.
- The town hall’s application form.
Each town hall may ask for extra documents, so check its website first.
Where to apply
At the town hall’s citizen service office or, in most towns, through its e-office (sede electrónica) using a digital certificate or Cl@ve.
Timing and cost
It’s free. With complete paperwork, registration is usually immediate in person or takes a few days online.
Certificates
Once registered you can request a volante (informative proof) or a certificado (official certificate) whenever another procedure requires it.
