Valencian pilota is the Valencian Community’s traditional sport par excellence, and in Camp de Túria it keeps clubs, schools and loyal fans who pack the courts for the big matches.
The variants
- Escala i corda: the premier variant, played in a trinquet court with a rope across the middle.
- Raspall: the ball is played low along the ground; it demands great agility.
- Frontó: played against a front wall, very popular in schools for its simplicity.
- Llargues and perxa: street variants where teams face each other in an open space.
Youth and schools
Pilota is part of school sports programmes and municipal sports schools in several towns — a great way for children to discover a sport rooted in local culture and language.
